2023: AIMBE Professional Impact Award in Education (Health Disparities): Recognizes one AIMBE member for exceptional and sustained contributions to Biomedical Engineering education  

2017: Inaugural President’s Award for Excellence: Recognizes one faculty member at the City College of New York (CCNY) for outstanding mentoring, research, and teaching.

2015: Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) Diversity Award: Recognizes outstanding contributions of the CCNY BME Department for improving gender and racial diversity in Biomedical Engineering.

 

2014: Wallace B. Coulter College for Translational BME Design: Faculty advisor of pitch winner, VERIPAD® (low-cost technology to authenticate medication).

 

2012: Young Leadership Award from 100 Hispanic Women Inc.: A non-Profit that recognizes community role models who serve to inspire Latinas.

 

2010: NSF Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) Mentoring Award: Recognizes CCNY faculty who excel in the dedication to recruiting, training and retaining minority under/graduate students in STEM.

 

2007: Alfred P. Sloan Foundation for Minority Education, Mentoring award: Honors faculty at Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) who inspire and support minority students to enroll in graduate programs in STEM.

 

2003: Society for Hispanic Engineers (SHPE) Inspiration Award: Recognizes faculty who serve as role models and/or mentors for engineering undergraduates of Hispanic ancestry.
